<div>The Academic Decathlon is a rigorous event made up of two team efforts involving a Logic Quiz and a Super Quiz sandwiched around eight individual events including Religion, English, Literature, Science, Mathematics, Current Events, Social Studies and Fine Arts. The St. Apollinaris students swept the individual events with 3 first places in the following subjects:  fine art, math and history, 2 second place finishes in literature and current events and 2 third place finishes in religion and science.</div>

<div>The St. Apollinaris Decathlon Team is comprised of 10 dedicated students including 5 eighth graders:  Joseph Bosetti (math), Gavin Glascott (english), Meg Collins (literature), Caspar Croft (current events), and Dena Prince and 5 seventh graders:  Mitchell Martin (history), Neha Sidhu (science), Hannah Smorra (religion), Joey Devine and Anna Staggs (fine arts).  The students have been studying furiously since early fall to prepare for the competition.</div>

<p>The St. Apollinaris 6th Grade Girls Basketball Team just finished their Championship Season with a hard fought 20-19 OT victory over St. Francis of Sonoma.  It was a total team defensive effort to hold a very good offensive team to just 19 points with Kayla deLeuze, Kendall Martin and Hannah Chau being the defensive standouts.  Ally Jackson and Alicia Prince played great at both end of the floor while Katie Stillwell pulled in some key rebounds.   The team was lead on offense by Emmy Morrison with 9 pts, Carlyn Bacci with 6, Kendall Martin with 3 and Rebecca Reynolds with 2.  The team finished league play in first place with a record of 7-1 and then went 3-0 in the North Bay Catholic School League Tournament to win both titles.</p>

<p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">5<sup>th</sup> GRADE GIRLS:</span></strong></p>
<p>The St. Apollinaris 5th Grade Girls Basketball Team just finished their Championship Season with a hard fought 13-14 loss to St. John’s of Ukiah.  It was a heartbreaking loss after fighting from six down at halftime to close the gap to one point before the final buzzer sounded.   The game really came down to defense with Annika Holquist, Kelsey Klungel, and Isabella Galambos pulling down some key rebounds as well as some key blocked shots.  Jane McLoughlin, Kendall Hyatt, Caroline Long and Paige Hall exhausted themselves with critical steals when it came time to press.  Ally Peterson, Anna Gsell, and Emily Han contributed on the floor with continuous strong defensive play.   The team was lead on offense by Jane McLoughlin with 4 pts, Kendall Hyatt with 3pts and Paige Hall, Caroline Long and Annika Holquist with 2pts each respectively.  The team finished league play in first place with a record of 7-0 and then went 1-1 in the North Bay Catholic School League Tournament to finish 2nd.</p>

Friday is &#8220;blue and yellow day&#8221; at school, and we hope all our students will show their dressed-up pride by wearing their school colors to the Friday night games.</p>
<p>There will be a &#8220;café&#8221; style snack bar for tasty treats, and great basketball played by a variety of girls and boys 8<span style="font-size: xx-small;">th </span><span style="font-size: small;">grade teams. <p><strong>Saturday, Nov. 26:</strong><br />
<strong>4pm:</strong>  St. A’s Students and families to meet at the “Downtown Holiday Grandstand” in front of ZinsValley Restaurant on First St. (Look for the Blue/Gold balloons for meeting spot)  The children will be performing a couple of Christmas songs before the parade.</p>
<p><strong>4:30pm:</strong>  St. A’s students and families to gather at the St. A’s Holiday Float to assemble for the parade. The float will be located on First St. (Look for the Blue/Gold Balloons)<br />
<strong>Call Kelly Hyatt or Monica Lopez if you have trouble finding the group.</strong></p>
<p>    * <strong>Cheerleaders</strong> please be in full uniform with Pom-Poms<br />
    * <strong>7th &#038; 8th Grade Basketball Teams:</strong>  Please wear you’re your uniforms and bring basketballs to the parade<br />
    * <strong>All St. A’s Students:</strong>  Dress warm with a sweatshirt/jacket, but please wear your St. A’s Holiday T-shirts over your outerwear.  T-shirts should be visible not covered up. Also, wear a Santa hat if you have one.<br />
    * <strong>Parents:</strong>  wear your St. A’s Spirit wear or holiday colors and Santa hats too. We would like all our St. A’s families to walk in the parade behind our Float.<br />
    * <strong>Parents we need your help</strong> to supervise all children please check in with Monica Lopez the day of the event for assignment.  (Please note, due to safety reasons, younger siblings of St. A’s students will not be allowed on the float unless the parent is assisting as a Parent Supervisor on the float.) </p>
<p><strong>5:00pm:</strong> Parade Starts on First St. and will end at the Oxbow Public Market.</p>
<p>    * <strong>Post parade:</strong> Parents, please meet-up with your child at the float. Students will not be able to exit the float without a parent.<br />
    * <strong>All participants:</strong> please remember we are all representing the St. Apollinaris School &#038; Parish Community, so let’s make our Principal &#038; Pastor proud!</p>
