The third grade class read a book about Johnny Appleseed's life. Johnny Appleseed's real name was John Chapman. He didn't like to fight when he had an argument. When he got mad at another man, instead of fighting, they had a tree chopping contest. Johnny won because the man was tired! One of our reading groups did a timeline about Johnny Appleseed's life. We enjoyed the book.

On Friday, September 23rd, we had Johnny Appleseed day in our classroom. We brought apple treats and shared them with our friends in class. We carved apples into doll heads. Some of us dressed up like him. It's was fun to learn about Johnny Appleseed. Johnny Appleseed's birthday is September 26, 1774 but we celebrated early because we have important tests during his birthday week!
