Assignment:  You are to find a newspaper/magazine or on-line article that incorporates math in it.  Hint:  Articles that contain numbers, statistics, charts or graphs are articles that incorporate math.    

Directions: 

1) Cut out the entire article out of the newspaper, magazine or print off the web.
2) Highlight with a marker where math is being used.
3) Mount article to a piece of heavy paper (or construction paper) approximately 18” by 14".
4) Write a 5-6-sentence synopsis (summary) of the article.  The synopsis needs to be about how the article uses math.  This may be typed or hand written.  Mount the synopsis below the article it relates to.
5) Write a creative title for the article and put it at the top of the heavy paper/construction paper.
6)  Present your project to the class.  Talk about how the article incorporates math.
7)  You will be preparing two to three articles a semester

General:  Use a variety of articles.  Choose them carefully.  Be neat.  Creatively arrange the article or decorate to add visual appeal. 

Grading: Each article 20 points towards a test grade
