We strive to engage in different activities which teach children how to build their own classroom community, solve problems appropriately, and work together.
KINDERGARTEN CLASSROOM RULES
Keep our hands and feet to ourselves
Walk in the classroom
Show Respect for others
Careful use of materials
Raise your hand to talk
Share materials
Awards
Every day your child is eligible to take home a special award (a brightly colored laminated card on a string). If your child comes home with that card that means they were successful at demonstrating the behaviors and values that we have been practicing. If your child does not demonstrate good classroom behavior they will not be able to take their card home that day. Please help to reinforce this by looking for your child’s award each day and praising them for their behavior. Please be sure that your child’s award comes to school with them everyday!
Student Conduct
To ensure a calm learning environment, I use the following system in our classroom: Each child has a special pocket in the classroom with a blue and a yellow card in it. When a child needs a reminder of classroom rules...
1st Time: Verbal warning
2nd Time: Verbal warning
3rd Time: Card change from Blue to Yellow
Child sits at workplace for some “Thinking Time”
Child loses privilege of taking home a basket that night
A note is sent home for parents to sign and return
If a child receives more than 3 card changes in a trimester, parents will receive a note and phone call. If a child willfully hurts another classmate, it is an automatic card change and phone call home, child may be sent home.
