It is essential that St. Apollinaris students dress appropriately at all times. Uniform dress creates a feeling of community; identification and helps students clearly focus on their educational pursuits. Certain events at the school require the Regulation Uniform. These events will always be clearly marked on the school calendar or included in the weekly Shamrock Scoop. “Optional Uniform Additions” are not permitted on Regulation (Full Dress) Uniform days. Dennis Uniform Co. is our official school uniform supplier (415-206-0111). Some items may also be purchased at Napa Valley Emporium (253-7177) or Lands' End (1-800-469-2222).

Regulation Full Dress Uniform

Girls (K – 5)

Jumper or Shift – Mayfair Plaid (length – top of the knee)

Blouse – White Peter Pan Collared short and long sleeved cotton or cotton knit

Sweatshirt – Navy blue crewneck with embroidered school logo

Socks – Solid White (socks NEED to be 4-6'' above shoe top) NO LOGOS and NO BELOW ANKLE OR MID-ANKLE SOCKS

Shoes – Black, white, gray, or any combination of these 3 colors. NO OTHER COLORS.

Low top (below the ankle bone) or mid top (at the ankle bone)

Shoelaces – Solid white, black, or gray

Girls (6-8)

Skirt – (razor or box pleat) Mayfair plaid (length – top of the knee)

Blouse – Over blouse (white, short or long sleeved Peter Pan collar or solid white knit Polo Shirt).

Polo shirt must be tucked in.

Socks – Solid White (socks NEED to be 4-6” above shoe top, knee high are acceptable) NO LOGOS and NO BELOW ANKLE OR MID-ANKLE SOCKS

Shoes – Black, white, gray, or any combination of these 3 colors. NO OTHER COLORS.

Low top (below the ankle bone) or mid top (at the ankle bone)

Shoelaces – Solid white, black, or gray

Sweatshirt – Athletic Heather Gray crew neck with embroidered school logo only

Boys (K - 5)

Shirt – Solid white knit polo short or long sleeved (NO LOGOS). Polo shirt must be tucked in.

Socks – Solid White (socks NEED to be 4-6'' above shoe top)

ON THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL ALL STUDENTS ARE TO WEAR THE REGULATION UNIFORM.

Optional Uniform Additions Boys and Girls K - 8

Year Round K-5 Navy blue sweatshirt-crew neck with embroidered school logo

K-8 Navy Twill Pants for girls (Dennis or Napa Valley Emporium)

St. Apollinaris baseball or bucket hats can be worn before school, during

recess and lunch, and after school. Please wear the baseball hats

with bill forward.

Summer

Regulation walking shorts (1-3” above knee bone) with belt, grades 4-8 only

Aug. 27– Oct. 26 Solid White polo shirt short or long sleeved.

March 3 – June 11

Winter

Oct. 30 – Feb. 29 White tights for girls

Additional Uniform Instructions:

· All clothing worn needs to be an appropriate size.

· Please replace worn out clothing.

· White polo shirts are to be tucked into pants, skirts, or walking shorts.

· Plain white undershirts are worn under polo shirts or blouses. No printing or picture on undershirts.

· Shoes must be appropriately fastened.

· Faded navy cord pants are not acceptable.

· Hair coloring and highlights are not acceptable.

· Boys hair length – neatly trimmed around the ears and above the collar in the back.

· Boys are to be clean-shaven.

· Makeup is not allowed.

· Nail polish, acrylic or silk wrap nails are not allowed. Natural nails only.

· Belts (black, brown or navy or Dennis Uniform navy belt) are required for boys and girls wearing pants or shorts in grades 4 - 8.

· Students may wear a gold or silver necklace or chain with a religious medal or cross. Girls may wear one pair of post earrings (one in each earlobe). Boys’ earrings are not allowed. One ring and/or one watch may be worn. No other jewelry may be worn.

· Students may not wear plastic or other wrist bands.

· Jackets are outside apparel.

The faculty or administration will judge the appropriateness of student’s appearance. A notice regarding improper grooming or dress will be sent home by classroom/homeroom teacher.

NON-REGULATION UNIFORM DRESS CODE:

Non-regulation uniform dress days will be decided by the administration and will be announced in the weekly scoop or special notice.

Girls may wear pants, capri pants, jeans, skirts or dresses (uniform length); sweaters, blouses or tops with or without collar, (no midriffs, no spaghetti strap tops and/or tank tops are acceptable). No shorts. No open toed or backless shoes, platform heels, flip flops, or clogs. Boys may wear pants or jeans, shirts (with or without collar). No shorts. Do not wear shirts/tops with inappropriate writing or pictures.
