MERCY Elections

As we come to the end of the school year, it is time to prepare for 2011/2012.  That prparation includes selecting a new MERCY Executive Board to carry out the organization’s purpose including:

  • Promoting a broader appreciation of the ideals of Catholic education;
  • Enlisting the spiritual, educational and social resources of home and school to provide a Catholic education of the highest quality;
  • Providing a forum of exchange for parents and teachers, and an informal advisory function to the school administration;
  • Providing a solid organization to imporove the school’s fundraising effors*;
  • Fostering the integration of families into the life of the parish community and promoting all fellowship between parish and school organizations;
  • Establishing and maintaining a tuition assistance scholarship fund, to be administered by the Principal and/or Pastor and to be funded by ten percent of MERCY earnings in excess of the School Board mandated annual obligation.
  • * MERCY is presently obligated to provide $75,000 to the school’s operating budget.

If you are looking to take an active role in St. A’s parent-teacher association, please submit a letter of interest (including your officer position preference) to by Friday, May 13, 2011.  As needed, a slate of candidates will be published for voting by the general membership in mid-May.  And, the new MERCY Executive Board will be announced at the end of the year MERCY meeting to be held on Thursday, May 26 at 7:00pm in Father Cleary Park (or Parish Hall in case of inclement weather).  The new Executive Board will be responsible for appointing Fundraising Chairs, Hospitality Coordinators and Room Parent Coordinators.

Prospective candidates may contact current MERCY Board members (Mary Musgrave, President; Kim Jackson, Secretary/Treasurer; Jennifer Renner (Chrzanowski), Fundraising Coordinator) to further understand the requirements of the positions.
